I got called out the other day for getting it wrong in my last blog. Got called out by no less than the co-producer of Treme, Eric Overmyer, in front of no less a knowledgeable audience than Sync-Up, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s symposium for music insiders. Got called out—and rejoiced! And here is why: Overmyer spoke to the way people were picking over Treme for every little thing the producers didn’t get right. And even some things that the producers did get right but that the pickers-over thought they got wrong. Like my recent blog where I had to point out that WWOZ wasn’t broadcasting from Armstrong Park after the Federal Flood of ’05.

Two brand new disks this week

Big Daddy O' will be in to premier is new CD "Used Blues". We'll play some from the disk and some live too. Keenan Knight will be backing BDO as well.

Anders Osborne will be dropping by to share his new CD "American Patchwork". Jusy out on the Alligator label.

Grayson Capps will also drop by to tell us where he will be playing in town this week.

While living in Florence, Italy, Katrina and Carmelo Turillo loved strolling in the evening while enjoying a scoop or several of Italian gelato. On returning to New Orleans they decided to open La Divina Gelateria Uptown and give authentic gelato the chance to bring further ease to living in the Big Easy.

The number of ways to experience the food at Jazz Fest can be overwhelming, but some of the options can actually take you farther than others. For instance, in years past, I would have headed straight for a meat-pie line. This year, it’s all about that Doh Doh and Jama Jama from the Benacchin stand.

Premier of Big Daddy O' new CD "Used Blues" and special guest

One Wednesday Big Daddy O' will Sit down with us at the crossraod and share is new CD "Used Blues" that will be released on Friday. We will play some songs from the CD and a couple of them live as well. He will tell us about the release/Rabadash Party to be held on Friday at Southport Hall.

Anders Osborne will be by to share some new music from his American Patchwork release as well.
