On Christmas

Because this is a free country. Because religion (or not) is usually inherited, and not chosen. Problem Child does not have Christmas shows. Yes, maybe one or two Christmas tunes.

This is to show respect to all the non-Christians in the USA, and the whole wide world, listening on the World Wide Web.

Be you a Jew, Hindu, Muslim, Pagan or Other- Happy Solstice and Seasons Greetings to all!

May there be Peace on Earth, and Good Will Toward All Men.

Noon Today: Cuttin' Class with the Red Wolf Brass Band

At noon today, students from the the Red Wolf Brass Band of Riverdale Middle School in Old Jefferson will be performing in the 'OZ studio. It's the latest installment of Cuttin' Class, made possible by Coventry Health Care of Louisiana.
 
The program is named for informal, impromptu musical competitions, or 'cutting contests' were important to the early development of jazz in New Orleans. Prevailing in these competitions (among both individuals and groups vied for musical supremecy) required both musicianship and improvisational skills.

It's finally starting to get hot, and the music & festival fun just gets better as the temperature increases. Check out some of the music festivals and other diversions in and around greater New Orleans this summer. Beausoleil (left) plays June 9 at the LA Cajun-Zydeco Festival.
