The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation's free concert series continues in 2016 with shows from the Bridge Trio, John Boutte & Shannon Powell, and Cyrus Chestnut.

The Bridge Trio is one of New Orleans' most exciting young groups. Pianist Conun Pappas, bassist Max Moran, and drummer Joe Dyson formed their trio while still students at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts under the direction of their mentor, legendary clarinetist and jazz educator Alvin Batiste. They performed with Batiste as the Jazztronauts while still in high school and played with him at his last gig ever at the 2007 Jazz Fest. Since graduating from NOCCA, they've gone on to work with many other exciting names in jazz today, including Donald Harrison, Jr. and Christian Scott. They'll be performing two free shows on Saturday, February 13 at 8p and 10p. Tickets will be available on Friday, January 29 at 10a at this link.

On Friday, February 26, John Boutte and Shannon Powell will come together for a special collaboration between two of New Orleans' most popular jazz artists. They'll perform with their own bands and together with Boutte and his band taking the stage at 8p and Powell and his band continuing at 9p. At 10p, Boutte and Powell will share the stage for a unique set from these two talented musicians. Tickets will be available on Friday, January 29 at 10a at this link.

On Thursday, March 31, pianist Cyrus Chestnut will perform two shows with his trio, at 8p and 10p. Chestnut is "the best jazz pianist of his generation [because of his] willingness to abandon notes and play space," according to Time Magazine. Tickets for both shows will be available on Monday, February 29 at 10a at this link.
