Irvin Mayfield, Jr.'s New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) has found its permanent home at the New Orleans Jazz Market at the corner of Oretha Castle Haley and MLK Blvd. in the old Gators department store building. The Jazz Market will feature music education experiences for all ages, a New Orleans Jazz Archive (a collaboration with the New Orleans Public Library), tributes to current and past jazz masters and, of course, performances by Mayfield and NOJO, and other well-regarded musicians.

Performances will occur inside the center's 600-person capacity Iberia Hall, a space acoustically optimized for jazz. The building also holds the Bolden Bar, named after jazz pioneer Buddy Bolden (who lived 5 blocks from the building), plus spaces for practice and education.

The NOJO will be taking up residency at the Abita Stage from April 9-12 during French Quarter Fest, or you can catch their first performance in their new home on April 25. The Jazz Market celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, April 2.
