The Lower 9th Ward Village has been a hub of volunteer activity and neighborhood building since federal levee failures in the wake of Hurricane Katrina devastated its home neighborhood in 2005.  Now a series of unfortunate circumstances has put the future of this vital neighborhood resource in jeapordy.  This Friday the Lower 9th Ward Village will be holding a benefit concert featuring live music from Treme Brass Band and Guitar Lightnin' Lee as well as comedy, spoken word and an amazing spread of food provided by local restaurants.  The event will take place Friday, May 23 from 6 PM until 11 PM at the Howlin' Wolf.
