Last Saturday, October 26, four bands, TBC Brass Band, New Breed, New Creations and the Original Pinettes, battled it out under the Claiborne Bridge in the Red Bull Street Kings showcase and competition, in which "Bands are challenged to demonstrate their ability to incorporate traditional brass band standards with their own original tunes."

The event was hosted by Glen David Andrews and DJ SLAB1 of Q93. Judges included Trombone Shorty, Kermit Ruffins, Walter Ramsey (of the Stooges Brass Band, a past winner), WGNO's Lebron Joseph, and Offbeat Magazine's Jan Ramsey. The Pinettes won (congrats!) and will receive mentorship from Trombone Shorty during 3 days of recording time.
