Iris May Tango cooking (literally!) during a WWOZ live broadcast at French Quarter Fest 2011.

During the late 1990s, writes Keith Spera of the Times-Picayune, "Frenchmen Street was still considered an exotic destination, even as it yielded a plethora of ambitious, genre-bending bands. Among the most incendiary was Iris May Tango", a group that "hit with a full-body collision of funk, jazz, rock and hip-hop."

Keng Harvey, a lead vocalist in Iris May Tango, offers up this sweet new video for the song "Leslie". Directed by James Demaria and shot in New York (Harlem, Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill, to be specific), it's the first single from a forthcoming album called Picture Perfect.

According to Harvey, the songs on Picture Perfect span "a relationship from beginning to bitter end. It's inspired by people breaking up after the storm, people not loving each other like they used to, the toll the storm took on relationships...."

Harvey's dance partner in the video is Sonja Chung, a professional dancer and model. Jon Sherman, a NOLA native and friend of musicians, donated a roof from which part of the video was shot. And finally, a shout our to film maker James Demaria, whose excellent work has graced this space several times. Check out his YouTube Channel.
