Starting in October, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation will host a series of free jazz concerts at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center (1225 N. Rampart Street). Tickets are free, but advance registration is required for each concert.
Christian Scott released his latest album, Stretch Music, in September. Partially recorded at the Parlor Studio in the Irish Channel, Scott takes contemporary jazz to higher heights with this combination release. Festivals Acadiens et Créoles is here again, happening October 7-11 at Girard Park in Lafayette. This year's festival is a little extra special, as it commemorates 250 years of Acadians surviving and thriving in southern Louisiana.
