On Saturday night, after Herlin Riley sat in with Shannon Powell's All-Star Band, the two drummers received the prestigious Ascona Jazz Award for 2010. Previous recipients include Lillian Boutte, Father Jerome LeDoux, and Donald Harrison.

This coming Friday morning, July the 2nd, I will be welcoming not one but two special musical guests to my show -- first the dynamic Young Fellaz Brass Band and then guitarist extraordinaire Mark Penton AKA Mark Pentone! My regular lively jazz show will run from 6 to 8:00 a.m. and then the live segments from these New Orleans artists are scheduled from 8:00 to 9:00 -- Tune in!
