Nicholas Payton has a new double album out on his own label, Paytone Records, titled "Letters." In the 26 tracks within, Payton truly runs the gamut from A to Z-- literally, as each track is named after a letter of the alphabet. The talented trumpeter hops instruments on this release, spending significant time on piano, keyboard, and Hammond B-3 organ, as well as the horn.
The fall 2015 Jazz in the Park schedule, happening at Armstrong Park, has been announced. The free weekly concert series happens each Thursday and will begin its fall edition on September 3. It runs through the end of October.
Aurora Nealand and the Gordon Webster Sextet do the Louis Armstrong standard "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" at L'Astral during the Montreal International Jazz Festival in July 2015. Along with Gordon Webster, the other musicians are Rob Garcia, Danny Ziemann, Dan Reitz, Danny Lipsitz.
A free celebration will be held outside Casa Borrega on Saturday, August 29 from 3-11p to thank the many Hispanic immigrants who helped rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The day will be filled with music, food, drinks, and dancing to honor the workers who cleaned our city and rebuilt our streets, homes and businesses.
